ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - Richard, "Dick" Christiansen, 87, McKinney, Texas, formerly of Arlington Heights, Ill. died peacefully Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Lifecare Hospital, Plano Texas, from pneumonia complications. He leaves his beloved wife of 67 years, Bernell, daughter Linda (Jim) Underwood, daughter Cindy (Craig) Darling, son Richard (Kim), daughter Anita (Bill) Annen, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter, mother, Hertha, brother, Bill and son, Jack. Born in Chicago, Illinois January 10, 1927, growing up Dick was active in sports, and his love for baseball and golf carried through his whole life. He served in the Army during WWII, stationed in Japan, and was a member of the U.S. baseball team. He attended Drake University and was a graduate of Northwestern University. He was active in little league and church, and a proud member of American Legion and The Elks Club. He was employed by Illinois Tool Works, as Corporate Data Processing Manager, retiring with them after 40 years of service. He spent his retirement enjoying time with Bernell, his children and grandchildren, golf outings, and was also active with the Senior Outreach Group at ITW, attending get-togethers and also assisting with Meals on Wheels. While Dick remained a loyal Cubs fan, in his last years he enjoyed seeing the Texas Rangers play as well - and, as he would often remark, he enjoyed seeing anyone play good ball. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 26th, 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 431 S.
