Obituary Condolences

Robert Michael Ortinau of Elk Grove Village for 47 years Chapel prayers for Robert Michael Ortinau, 84, will be Friday, May 3, at 9:30 a.m. at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blocks south of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village, proceeding to St. Julian Eymard Catholic Church, Mass 10 a.m. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Visitation Thursday, May 2, 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Born in Chicago, IL, Oct. 19, 1928, he passed away peacefully in his sleep at home April 30, 2013. Robert was a retired architect. He was a lieutenant in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War, an Eagle Scout, graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign in 1952 with a B.S. in architecture, and was active in Elk Grove Village boys baseball and several travel hockey teams in the Chicagoland area. He was a member of the US Marine Corps track team, member of the University of Illinois Track Team, an avid coin, stamp and gem collector, and enjoyed all outdoor activities throughout his life, including sailing on Lake Michigan on his Dragon sailboat. He was the husband of Annabelle Barbara Ortinau (nee Mesch) of 54 years; father of Eric Thomas Ortinau (Lori) of Morris, IL and Laura Gail Kamp (Jeff) of Elk Grove Village, IL; grandfather of Christal Kamp, Megan Ortinau and Brett Ortinau; son of the late Anton and Victoria (nee Bielski) Ortinau; brother of Gilbert Ortinau (Ethel), the late Leonard Ortinau and Marlene Zavakos.
