NAPERVILLE - Walter E. "Bud" Lambert age 91, a Naperville, IL resident since 1946, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born May 27, 1922 in Evanston, IL. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Wheeler) Lambert, whom he married September 2, 1950, dear father of Mary Elizabeth Gresk of Warrenville, IL, Pamela (David) Briggs of Naperville, Gregory (the late Lisa) Lambert of Aurora, IL and Thomas (Cindy) Lambert of Plainfield, IL, adored grandfather of Meghan (Mike) Mulhern, Emily (Chris) Tompkins and Sarah (Nathaniel) Kuhn; Courtney (Tom) Galindo, Caroline and Laura Briggs; Trisha, Gregory, Molly, Michael, Jennie and Nicholas Lambert; Samuel Valdez, cherished great-grandfather of Christopher Muckey, Sydney and Rowan Mulhern, Kendall Tompkins and Brady Galindo, devoted son of the late Walter E. and Ruby Lambert, dear brother of Charles R. (Connie) Lambert of Houston, TX, fond uncle and great-uncle of many. Walter grew up in Glen Ellyn, IL and was a graduate of Glenbard Township High School. He attended one year at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor before serving with the U.S. Army in Europe 1943-1946 during World War II. After the war, Walter graduated from North Central College in Naperville with a degree in Business and Mathematics and began his first job in banking at Naperville National Bank. Over the years, Walter worked for several local banks and later was employed as a bank examiner for the State of Illinois, retiring in 1996. Walter was a proud veteran and member of Judd Kendall VFW #3873 and the American Legion Post #43, both in Naperville and was a participant of Honor Flight Chicago in 2012, visiting Washington DC with fellow World War II veterans. He was also a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Naperville. Walter was a avid collector of Yo-yo's and could perform many tricks with them. He also was a champion marbles player as a youth. Visitation Friday, February 7, 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Services will begin Saturday, February 8, 9:00 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N.
