Obituary Condolences

William J. Hauck, 81, passed on Oct. 18, 2013, at the Journey Care Hospice in Barrington, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene, with whom he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary this past October 12; his beloved daughter, Elizabeth San Juan of Oswego; his grandchildren, Cristian (age 17) and twin girls, Amanda and Rebeca (age 15); 14 cousins, all first born in the United States; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and William Hauck; an infant sister, Margaret; as well as his cousin, Greg Anstett. After graduating from high school, William enlisted in the Air Force and served as a gunner on a B-29 during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Japan, and while there, he learned to play golf on their beautifully hand manicured courses. Golf became the love of his life. He received an honorable discharge in 1955. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. William went to Northern Illinois University and graduated in 1961. His main employment was 26 years with the Illinois Department of Transportation. In 1973, he was elected as the Addison Township Clerk on the Democratic ticket. The whole slate was elected and this was the first time in history that democrats were elected in DuPage County. Upon moving to his summer place in Fox Lake, he served as a director of the Fox Waterway Agency for 8 years. He also enjoyed fishing and wanted to say that he "hooked" some fish and "hooked" some drives. He will be sorely missed.
