NEWPORT NEWS - Ana Maria Guisao-Baez, our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, transitioned into eternal life after a long battle with Alzheimer's and heart disease, Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012. Ana Maria was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Patillas, PR.

Ana, a retired school teacher, started as a paraprofessional and worked her way up earning an associate's (New York City Community College), bachelor's (Richmond College-now the College of Staten Island), and master's degrees (City University of New York) to teaching grades 1 – 5 and ESL children for the New York City Public School System.
After a long teaching career, Ana retired to Puerto Rico in 1989 with her husband Victor Sr., and in 2002 relocated to Newport News, Va.
She leaves to cherish her beloved memory, her husband of 57 years, Victor Guisao Sr.; two sons, Victor Jr. (Marjorie Anne), and Edwin (Odette); four grandchildren, Brian, Sharisse, Dean, and Jason; six great-grandchildren, Avia, Nevaeh, Selena, Kason, Xavier, and Reina Marie; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, caretakers, extended family and friends here in Newport News, New York, and Puerto Rico.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and the funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at O. H. Smith and Son Funeral Home, 3009 Chestnut Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607.
