YORKTOWN, VIRGINIA - Angelo Anthony Luongo, 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Tony was a native of Brooklyn, NY, moved to Virginia in 1962 then to Apollo Beach, FL in 1990, returning to Newport News, VA in 2005. He was a former Commander of the VFW and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Gladys; a brother Anthony Luongo; and sister, Carmela Lauria. He is survived by his children, Antoinette Loar and her husband Carl of Medford, OR, Connie Briddell and her husband Dan of Virginia Beach, VA, Angela Buck and her husband Ed of Port Trevorton, PA, Louis Luongo and his wife Lori of Yorktown, VA and Mary Shaw and her husband Stephen of Guyton, GA, and his sisters Angelina Patalano of West Babylon NY and Millie Bello of Richmond Hill, NY; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 9, 2013, in the chapel of Amory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. The family extends its deepest appreciation to Dad's caregivers, Hospice Community Care, and the staff at Shelton on the Bay Assisted Living for their kindness and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bethlehem Monastery of the Poor Clares, 5500 Holly Fork Rd, Barhamsville, VA 23011.
