COBBS CREEK - Benjamin F. Seawell, Jr., 89, went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2014 at his home in Cobbs Creek. Ben retired from NASA Langley AFB after 25 years of federal service in the fire department and he also owned Seawell's Home Improvement. He was instrumental in the formation of Langley Baptist Church in Hampton, Va. Ben worked tirelessly for his community and served on the Gloucester Board of Supervisors and was a past chairman. At the time of his death he was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, where he served on numerous committees until the decline of his health. He was a member of the Gideons International. Ben was preceded in death by his loving wife Louise May Seawell in 2008. He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Smith; sons, Benjamin F. Seawell, III and wife Rosalie and Thomas Edward Seawell and wife, Linda; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services officiated by Reverend Dr. Charles E. McDaniel will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Spring Hill Baptist Church, Cobbs Creek. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
