ELBERON, VA - Berl Duane Hare, 81, went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2013. He was the husband of the late Curtis Mae Logan Hare. Berl was a member of Moore Swamp Baptist Church. Berl retired from the US Army after 20 years of service. He served as a SGT in the Korean War and served twice in the Vietnam War. Berl also received 2 Purple Hearts. After his retirement from the Army, he was employed with Pepsi Cola and later with the HRSD. Berl leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Monika Armstrong (Michael) of Newport News, Jutta Hansen (Michael) of Williamsburg, Veronika Hines (Larry) of Williamsburg, Evelyn Franks of Michigan and Edna Enos of Mississippi; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers; 3 sisters and special friend Billy Martin. A life celebration service will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 12:00pm in Moore Swamp Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Blalock officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held at 11:00am prior to the service. Memorial donations can be made to Moore Swamp Baptist Church, 2300 Runnymeade Road, Elberon, VA 23846. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA.
