NEWPORT NEWS - Brinton "Britt" Belyea, 77, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. Born in Dorchester, Mass., he grew up in Abington, Mass. After spending his early career working various jobs in the communications field, Britt relocated his family to the Peninsula in 1969 and spent the rest of his career as a Cable Television Pioneer serving Hampton Roads. Britt had a passion for all things railroad and enjoyed "RVing" and NASCAR. He was an avid dog lover. He enjoyed building antennae for communications and was active in amateur radio and local ham radio clubs. He was an Army veteran and served in Okinawa. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn B. Belyea; daughter, Robin Belyea of Greensboro, N.C.; son, Dana Belyea and his wife, Kathy of Marietta, Ga.; mother, Elizabeth Belyea of Abington; brothers, Samuel Collins of Norwell, Mass, Charles Collins and his wife, Sharon of Abington; sister-in law, Bernice Anderson of Tucson, Az.; grandsons, Joshua and Evan Belyea of Marietta; and niece and nephews, Beth Anderson Kearns and Jack Kearns of Hollis, N.H. and Richard Collins, of Boston, Mass. The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 13, from 6-8 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Victory Junction Gang Camp, Randleman, N.C.
