YORKTOWN, VIRGINIA - Longtime Peninsula resident, Charles E. Scott, 78, of Yorktown passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 15, 2014. He was a native of Lewisburg, Tennessee and graduated from Tennessee Tech with a BS Mechanical Engineering in 1958. After 35 years of exceptional service, he retired from NASA - Instrument Research Division. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol, and their children: Sandra Gail McIntire (Craig), Katherine Ann Butler (Gary), and Kenneth Edward Scott (Missy); a brother, Paul Liggett Scott of Brentwood, Tennessee; and 5 grandchildren: Kevin and Julie McIntire, Scott and Keith Butler, and Claire Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmack and Allene Scott, and a brother, William Dugger Scott. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Amory Funeral Home, Grafton on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. The family will receive visitors Monday, August 18, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home.
