NEWPORT NEWS - Edelmiro DiazRobles, 89, went home to be with the Lord Apr. 4, 2014. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving in WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War. During his Army career he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After retiring from the Army Edelmiro pursued a career in civil service. He is preceded in death by his wife Anilda Diaz. Edelmiro is survived by one son Gustavo Diaz; daughters Irma and Nordelie Diaz; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Tues, Apr. 8, from 6-8pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home Denbigh Chapel. Service will take place Wed, Apr. 9, at 2:30pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave Newport News. A burial will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens with full military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church in Newport News or at alz.org. Condolences may be made to the family at altmeyer.com.
