NORFOLK - Edward P. Hill, 72, of the 1300 block of Calla Ave., passed away on February 21, 2014. Born in West Virginia, Edd was a U. S. Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He was a Police Officer for the City of Smithfield and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Phoebus Post 3219 and Ocean View Post 3160. He was also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and served as Judge Advocate of Chapter 607 and past Judge Advocate of MOPH of Dept. of Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Ann Hill; son, James Hill; daughters, Nancy Hill and Susan Benefield; stepsons, Michael, Daniel and Steven Gillespie; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7-8:30pm at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 3031 Luxembourg Ave., Norfolk with the Rev. John F. Shappell officiating.
