POQUOSON - Ernest Hoover Diggs Jr., 65, a native and lifelong resident and waterman in Poquoson, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was a Vietnam Army veteran, a member of the Waterman's Association, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Ernest Jr. enjoyed making crab pots and mending nets for the local waterman, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Ernest Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Ernest H. Diggs Sr.; and grandparents, Annie and Bob Holloway and Susie and Jim Diggs.
He is survived by his daughter, Nina Edwards (James Jackson); his mother, Ramona H. Diggs; two grandchildren, Greer Edwards and Kendra Lee; sister, Freda Diggs; brothers, Michael Diggs (Kathryn), Greg Diggs, and Ken Diggs (Leslie); special "sister," Susan Foster; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends; and beloved dog, Gabby Girl.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at his home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, 1 p.m. at Victory Christian Center, Poquoson, by Pastor Don Marsh and the Rev. George V. Insley Jr. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, with military honors.
