YORKTOWN - Francis Dvorak, 98, passed away June 24, 2014 in Newport News, Va. He served as a Chief Motor Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy for 8 years, two enlistments (1936-40 and 1942-46), and was a World War II veteran. He retired from NASA after 28 years of service. Frank loved working with his hands and enjoyed gardening and woodworking for the past 40 years since retiring. Survivors include his wife, Mary Newsome Dvorak of 74 years, two daughters, Katherine Dvorak Minter and husband Page Minter, Mary Dvorak Major and husband Bert Major, three granddaughters, Whitney Minter Cataldo, Marla Minter Wilson, and Cara Major and two great-granddaughters, Paige Wilson and Elizabeth Wilson. A memorial service will be held Monday June 30, 2014, at 5:30 PM in Amory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the .
