HAMPTON - Henry Adam Fedziuk was born on December 6, 1916 in Worcester, Mass. to Julia and Walter Fedziuk. After a few years in Mass, and then in Duryea, Penn, the family settled in Buffalo, N.Y. He graduated from Public School 57 in 1930 and East High School in 1934. He joined the Boy Scouts of America and received his Eagle Scout rank in 1933. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1939 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and came to work for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (which became NASA) in August, 1939. Mr. Fedziuk's years with NACA-NASA were exceedingly rewarding. The problems they worked on were challenging and important to the military aerodynamic and aircraft community. He worked with many talented and dedicated scientists. He retired at the end of 1974 as Chief of the Scientific & Technical Information Division. In 1956 he joined the Hampton Lions Club and served as its president in 1975. In 1992 he received the Melvin P. Jones Award for humanitarian service. Mr. Fedziuk survived a brother who died in the 1918 flu epidemic and his son, Henry A. Fedziuk, Jr. who died in September, 2002. Mr. Fedziuk was a member of St. John's Church. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen Marshall Fedziuk, and two daughters; Julia Marshall Fedziuk of Riverdale, Georgia, and Elizabeth Fedziuk Harris of Severna Park, Maryland. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2014 at St. John's Episcopal Church by Rev. Samantha Vincent-Alexander.
