NEWPORT NEWS - Hubert K. Clark, 87, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013. Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Navy from July 1943 to August 1946, and he received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Duke University. He began his government career with NASA's predecessor agency, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), in May 1952 as a mechanical engineer. He retired as Assistant Director for Systems Engineering and Operations at NASA's Langley Research Center in 1985. He then was employed as the Corporate Vice President of Micro Craft Inc., Hampton Division from 1985-1991. Mr. Clark was an active member, Sunday school teacher, Life Deacon and trustee at Hilton Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Copeland McLean, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Long Clark. Survivors include his wife of over 62 years, Georgia Mayberry Clark; daughter, Georgia Mann and husband, Robert; sons Hubert Clark, Jr., John Clark and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Kathryn Clark, Barrie Clark, Robbie Mann and wife, Beth, and Wesley Mann; great-grandchildren, Robyn Mann, Lindsey Mann, and Jack Mann. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 16 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home with burial following in Peninsula Memorial Park.
