YORKTOWN - James E. McCormick was born in DeKalb County, Illinois and died on May 14th 2013. It was a much anticipated journey. He was born to William and Mary "Jordan" McCormick on 17 June 1930. His life was one of travel and adventure that he would describe as "full". He left Chicago for college, ultimately graduating from St. Benedicts of Atchison Kansas, and never stopped venturing after that. He was commissioned in the Air Force as a navigator and also flew with TWA and several other sketchier carriers. He traded in his wings for a drill bit and graduated from the University Of Illinois School Of Dentistry. With his B4 bag still functioning he rejoined the Air Force this time as part of the Dental Corps and kept on moving eventually retiring after 26 years of service. He then started a successful dental practice in York County, McCormick Family Dentistry. (Now Boxx, Blaney, and Lachine) Joan, his wife of 54 years was his greatest adventure, just beating out a jet plane crash in Alaska and a midnight flight over Cuba. His total devotion to her was beautiful. He was a caring father to Kevin, Sean (deceased), Brendan (& Julie), Brian (& Judi), and Cathy (& Josh Lachine). He was also blessed with nine grandchildren Brendan, Meaghan & Sean, Quinlin, Aidan & Connor, Kate, Jamie and Ryan. A celebratory mass will be held at 1:00PM, Tuesday May 21st Immaculate Conception Church in Hampton Virginia. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Benedictine College, Attn: James Kew, 1020 N 2nd St, Atchison, KS 66002. Arrangements are by Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions in Hampton, 757-825-8070.
