HAMPTON - John Lawrence Voss, 83, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Born in Appleton, WI, he has been a resident of Hampton since 1971 where he retired from Ft. Monroe as a civil service systems analyst. John was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army Air Corps from 1947-1952. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, American Legion Post 31 where he was a Past Post Commander, Korean War Veterans Association and he was a volunteer for many different functions within the city of Hampton. "Been there, done that, and enjoyed most of it!" He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Josefina Sevidal Voss; daughter, Shawn Marie Voss Armstrong; grandchildren, Ben Armstrong and Shannon Coleman; great-grandchildren, Michael Armstrong, Riley Armstrong, Michael Armstrong, and Jake Raymond Coleman; brother, James Voss; brother and sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Rev. Sean Prince. The family wishes in lieu of flowers, contributions be made two the ICCC Food Pantry, 2150 Cunningham Dr. in Hampton, 23666.
