As a member of Saint Bede's Catholic Church, Joyce was privileged to serve as a Eucharistic Minister to its parishioners. She was also a member of the church's small faith group for seventeen years. She and her loving and supportive husband, Richard L. (Dick) Ferris, would have celebrated their 40th anniversary on June 15, 2014. In addition to her husband Dick, Joyce is survived by four brothers and two sisters, Don (Thelma) Booth and Morris (Joann) Booth of Warfield, KY, Sheridan Jr. (Carol) Booth, Jim (Linda) Booth, Peggy (Landon) Stepp, and Karen (Bill) Harvey of Inez, KY. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed (Kay) Ferris, Mary Ellen (Dick) Geyer and Bernadette (Dick) Mason of Columbus, OH, Susanne Ferris of Richmond, VA, twenty five nieces and nephews and forty four great nieces and nephews. Having moved to West Simsbury, CT, Midlothian, VA, New Orleans, LA and Fairfax, VA while supporting her husband's career, Joyce enjoyed many special friendships. In 1993, she assisted Dick in forming his law firm, Ferris & Associates, in Williamsburg, VA. Joyce retired as office manager after 15 years in 2009. Joyce enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and golfing. As an avid golfer and a member of the Two Rivers Ladies Golf Association at Governor's Land, she participated in many competitive tournaments. Joyce was the ladies club champion at Beau Chene Country Club in New Orleans, LA. Family and friends have been blessed with Joyce's spirit, generosity, enthusiasm and especially her example of faith, love and loyalty. Her grace, inner beauty, and gentleness always made her presence comforting and joyful. The family appreciates the compassionate and attentive care provided by Dr. John Miller and the medical staff at the Riverside Peninsula Cancer Institute of Williamsburg.
