NEWPORT NEWS - Leo Martin Colson, 93, died Saturday, December 22, 2012. He was born in Kane, PA. He signed up for the Army/Air Corp. 1 month after the Pearl Harbor invasion and retired from the Army in 1971. He received an American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. After he retired from the military, he settled in Newport News. His favorite things to do were walking the neighborhood and talking to his many friends, working in the yard and fixing up old houses with his son. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Colson. He is survived by his two sons, Erik Colson and his wife, Nina of Williamsburg and Ronnie Colson of Newport News; his daughter, Margit Colson of Newport News; his sisters, Elizabeth, Grace and Mary Colson all of PA and his granddaughter, Jasmine Colson of Williamsburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 2, 2012 from 7:00-8:00pm at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2012 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
