NEWPORT NEWS - Patricia Russell, wife of James Russell, died from a sudden massive heart attack on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
Pat was born March 9, 1938, in York, Pa. At the age of nine, her family moved to Buffalo, N.Y., where she met and married Jim Russell in 1960. After their marriage, they resided on the west coast in Seattle and Los Angeles for 10 years. In 1970, Pat and Jim moved to Newport News, where Jim worked at NASA Langley.
Pat was a very loving and wonderful person and spent a good portion of her life keeping her husband and two children from running amok. While in Newport News, she worked various part-time jobs including a substitute teacher at Denbigh High School, a waitress and a child care worker.
Her granddaughter, Tiffany Brant, came to live with Pat and Jim in 1988 at the age of two. Tiffany was the apple of Pat's eye. Pat loved Disney World and they spent family vacations at Disney every other year.
Pat will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Jim; granddaughter, Tiffany Brant; son, Jim Russell (Marilyn); granddaughters, Amanda and Sylvia Russell; their six great-granddaughters; daughter, Kimberly Russell (Greg Kalinowski); granddaughters, Kimberly and Virginia Quinn; and former son-in-law, Joel Brant.
