Ralph L. PAYNE Obituary
LARGO, FLA. - Ralph L. Payne, 85, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Hampton, Va., and a native of Galax, Va., was called home to be with the Lord on Nov. 20, 2012.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Saranne Nuckolls Payne; son, J. Michael Payne and his wife Mary, of Jacksonville, Fla., and their daughter, Ashlie, of Orlando, Fla.; daughter, Elizabeth Payne, of Nokomis, Fla.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Norma and Olen Quesenberry, and sister-in-law, Dean Nixon, of Galax, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He retired from the Virginia State Health Department as an epidemiology specialist and received his medical training at the Centers of Disease Control in Atlanta, Ga. He was an active member of Seminole First Baptist Church where he served on various committees. He served his country honorably during World War II and the Korean Conflict as a military policeman in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Masonic Old Town Lodge #68.
A memorial service will be held at Seminole First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012. Private interment will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
