Simeon Richard Hunnicutt Obituary
NEWPORT NEWS - Simeon Richard "Sim" Hunnicutt , 91 , died Saturday , Feb. 1, 2014 in Morningside Assisted Living. A native of Statesboro, Ga., he was a peninsula resident for 62 years. Sim retired from NASA/EGG as an inspector and was a Supervisor in the Mechanical and Refrigeration Dept. with NASA for 32 years. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He served in the Pacific during WW II in the Navy. Preceding him in death were his parents, William Charles and Fannie Celeste Hunnicutt ; eight brothers and sisters ; and a granddaughter , Jennifer Jordan Wyenandt. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Anne Christine Hill Hunnicutt; two daughters , Brenda Hunnicutt Balmer and her husband, David , Kimberly Hunnicutt Johnson and her husband , Michael; one son, Simeon Richard "Rick" Hunnicutt, Jr.; brother, Charles Hunnicutt; three grandchildren, Hunter Balmer, Lindsey Balmer and Rachel Jordan Flowers; four great grandchildren, Ethan Jordan, Gabe Jordan, Ryder Flowers, and Mollie Balmer; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Katherine T. Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff at Morningside Assisted Living, Riverside Hospice and Home Helpers.
