YORKTOWN, VIRGINIA - Stanley Jefferson Purvis, 84, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Stanley was a native of Blackshear, GA. and a Yorktown resident since 1968. He was an Air Force Veteran and retired in 1970 as a Tech Sgt after 22 years of service. After retiring he worked as a Ranger in Newport News Park retiring in 1989 after 19 years of service. He was a member of Seaford Church of Christ. He was a member of Warwick Masonic Lodge # 336. He is survived by his loving wife 60 years, Norma Purvis and a daughter, Sheryl Sarver of Winter Haven, FL and 2 sons, David W. "Butch" Purvis of Valdosta, GA. And Ronald E. Purvis and his wife Sandra of Newport News; a brother, Harold Purvis of Mississippi; 4 grandchildren, Brittany, Heather, James and Tracy; 4 great grandchildren, Noah, Chase, Zoie and Dylan. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, in Amory Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Joe Parrish. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 hr prior to the service. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home.
