HAMPTON - William "Billy" Fox, Jr., 90 went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. William was born on February 17, 1923. He was a lifelong resident of Hampton and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He retired as a Superintendent in X-32 and The Carrier Planning Department from the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company in 1985 after a successful 45 years of service. After his retirement, he enjoyed his many hobbies that included boating, fishing, woodworking and bird watching with family and friends. His love of family motivated his numerous woodworking projects as well as his fishing trips, which provided many delicious meals for family and friends. William was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 yrs, Dorothy Lee Fox, his mother, Eva Lou Fox and his father, William Fox. Survivors include his children: William D. Fox, III of Hampton, Phillip C Fox and wife Karen Fox of Poquoson, two daughters, Betty Lou Iroler and husband, Ken Iroler of Hampton, Delores F Nichols and husband Gerald A Nichols of Yorktown. His grandchildren who loved him dearly, Rachel Nichols, Carley Nichols Senter and husband Jeff Senter, Laura & Michelle Harrell, Shane Dean, Kenny Wayne Iroler and his daughters: Leighann, Amber & Haley Iroler, Christopher Fox and Brian Fox. Also three step grandchildren, Cindy Godfrey, Angela Halsey, Lori Phelps and two step great grandchildren, Amanda Green and Robbie Halsey. In addition, William will be dearly missed by his three sisters, Betty Colleen Fox of Hampton, Vivian Graham of Rappahannock and Francis Norton of Lancaster, Va. along with numerous nieces and nephews. Also Everette Butler, a special family member and friend. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 6-7:00 pm at W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 pm on Sunday, November 24th in Peninsula Memorial Park with Pastor Bob Gochenour officiating. A special thanks to the caring nurses and staff at Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton and the Northampton Rescue Emergency Technicians who tended to Dad in his time of need.
