HAMPTON - William 'Bill' Adkins, 76, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, after a brief illness. He was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and had been a Peninsula resident for 37 years. Bill was retired from NASA Langley Research Center and the United States Air Force. He was an active member in the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Commemorative Air Force. He was a member of Langley Air Force Base Chapel One and sang in the choir for 35 years. A beloved father and grandfather, Bill is survived by his son, James Adkins and his wife, Donna, of Hampton; daughter, Mary Douglas and her husband, Ken, of Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Tori and Beth Adkins, Kevin and Amanda Douglas. A service of remembrance will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Friends are encouraged to visit www.mem.com to share words of comfort with the family. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton.
