Eric Magnussen passed away on Tuesday, May 27th 2014 at University Hospital in Newark. He was 64. Eric was born in Orange and grew up in Lake Parsippany. He also lived in Lake Hiawatha before moving to Lincoln Park, New Jersey over 20 years ago. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from June 13, 1969 until being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on June 8, 1973. He graduated from the Passaic School of Drafting in 1968 and then began working at Jersey Central Power & Light where he has worked for the past 46 years, attaining the position of Senior Drafting Technician. Eric was a military and gun enthusiast as well as an effective outdoorsman. He was a member of the NRA, NRA-ILA and the Wounded Warrior Project.
He was the loving son of Audrey Jean (Hand) Magnussen of Hellertown Pa., and the late Emil Magnussen who died in 2001. He is also survived by a sister Bobbie Lee Wolfinger of Hellertown Pa.
Arrangements were private under the direction of the Par-Troy Funeral Home, Parsippany. In the near future Eric's cremains will be entombed at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA along with his father, who was a United States WWII Army veteran, following a military burial.
