Joan Ann Cieciuch

AGE: 75 • Rockaway

Joan Ann (Howard) Cieciuch, 75, of Rockaway, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18th, with her loving family by her side. Born in the Bronx, NY, to Charles and Helen Howard, Joan was raised in Jersey City.

After graduating from Snyder High School in 1956, she attended business school and received her first job at New York University. She would go on to hold positions at Ryerson Steel, Nelson Trucking, Happy Legs and, ultimately, PSE&G where she worked until her retirement. Soon after the birth of her first child, Joan settled in Secaucus and had four more children. In later years, she would help care for both her mother and aunt while continuing to hold a full-time job.

Joan enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, shopping, trying her luck at the New Jersey lottery and traveling, especially to Maui, Hawaii. She was an active member of the Fox Hills Community and the Rockaway Seniors. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Joan is predeceased by her husband, Bernard, and dear friend Lucille Koenumund; she is survived by her children Stephen (Maureen), Kenneth, Catherine DeBenedetto (Ronald), Raymond (Vickie) and Joann Mayor (Rico), her eight adoring grandchildren, brother Charles Howard (Marie), and many other dear relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 22nd, at 10:30 am at St. Philip the Apostle Church, Saddle Brook. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, May 21st, from 4-8 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville.
