Oscar Thomas Doyle, 86, of Florham Park, New Jersey passed away on Jan. 31, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at Burroughs Kohr Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison, NJ. A mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. at Saint Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, NJ.

After proudly serving his country in the United States Army during World War II, Oscar began his career in the bakery business and ultimately became Vice President of Operations for Ward Baking Company. He later served as the Operations Manager of American Baking Company. Oscar also became the Director of Operations, Department of Human Services for Morris County and the Manager of the New Jersey Department of Human Services. He finished his career as a member of the New Jersey State Parole Board, finally retiring at the age of 84. Long active in politics, Oscar served on the Montville Township Planning Board, Environmental Commission, and Recreation and Drug Awareness Committees. He was Deputy Mayor of Montville Township and President of the Montville Republican Committee. Oscar was Chairman of the NJ Republican County Committee Chairman's Association, Chairman of the Morris County Republican Committee and the Morris County Board of Elections.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, AM VETS (WW II), and the American Legion. Oscar was a Past Grand Knight and a charter member of the St. Pius X, Montville Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Social Justice Ministry at St. Vincent Martyr Church and initiated its annual picnic. He volunteered passionately at Market Street Mission, Hope House and served as treasurer of Eva's Sheltering program. Among the many awards he received are the Martin Luther King Brotherhood Award, the Catholic War Veterans Service Award, the Morris County Freeholder Award for Outstanding Service to the Community, the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly Award for Outstanding Commitment and Dedication, the Hope House 2010 Volunteer of the Year award and the Vivere Christus Est Award.

Oscar was born in Orange, NJ, the son of the late John and Laura Doyle. He had five siblings, Nelson, John, Edward, Winifred and Daisy, all of whom predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his first wife Jeanne nee Sonn and his son Michael. He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Barbara nee Beifus; his beloved children, son Patrick Doyle and his wife Kathy of Mendham; son John Drayton and his wife Jen of Denville; and daughter Jennifer Murphy and her husband John of Morris Township. He was the cherished grandfather of Kyle and Julia Doyle; Caitlin, Megan, Jack, and Emily Murphy; and Tess and Lucy Drayton. Oscar was also the dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

His sense of humor, generous spirit and willingness to help others enriched the lives of all who knew him. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Saint Vincent Martyr Church, the Market Street Mission in Morristown, NJ, or the Florham Park First Aid Squad.
