Richard H. Yanni "Dick", of Tinton Falls, NJ, formerly of Boonton, Montville and Brick, NJ, passed away at home on Friday, May 23, 2014. He was 88 years old. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, NJ on Wednesday, May 28th from 4-8 pm. A service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, May 29th at 9:00 am. The entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover, NJ. Dick was born in Jersey City, NJ and graduated from NY Maritime Academy at Ft. Schulyer, St. Peter's College, Montclair State University and NY University. Mr. Yanni was a US Veteran of the Korean War who proudly served in the US Navy, retiring as a Lt. Commander. Dick's career spanned 30 years in education was with the Wayne Board of Education. He was an educator and administrator, before retiring as the Principal of Wayne Valley High School in 1991. He was active in politics and served as the Mayor of Boonton from 1972-1976.

Surviving are his beloved wife, of 63 years, Jean Mary (Piscitello); devoted sons, Richard R. and Brian M.; loving granddaughters Allison and Natalie.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a Veterans organization of your choice or to Sacred Heart School, Clifton, NJ (where he served as principal from 1993-1998).
