Vincenza Maria Calvino
AGE: 91 • Succasunna
Vincenza Maria Calvino, age 91, of Succasunna, NJ passed of sudden Phenomena complications on 12/17/12. Born in Torre del Greco, Italy she was as an Elementary School Teacher and grew up in a loving family (parents, Ciro and Immaculate Ascione) of 9 sisters and 1 brother.
Vincenza "Vittoria" came to the US from Italy as a Teacher to learn of our school system and met her husband to be, Antonio "Tony" A. Calvino (former Engineer at Picatinny Arsenal). They married on 09/13/58 and started their lives in Succasunna, where they raised 1 daughter, Maria Pia, and were members of St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church. Tony passed of a sudden heart attack on Aug. 8, 1985. Vittoria stayed in Succasunna until 5 years ago when she moved in w/her daughter, Maria, in St. Petersburg, FL & became closer than ever. She loved the ocean, beaches and sunshine! She'd often say the water views "reminded her of Napoli" (Naples, Italy)!. Vittoria was a homemaker while married & later a Librarian at the Roxbury Public Library when widowed. Vittoria was a vibrant, spirited lady that loved life & was passionate about family, friends, kids & Italy! She was a phenomenal cook of authentic Italian cuisine and would always serve a feast w/Espresso. She had a great sense of humor & was blessed w/a youthful appearance & soul. She loved to teach Italian to anyone willing to learn! She was a devoted wife & a loving mother. Vittoria's survived by her daughter, Maria Pia Calvino Maxwell of St. Petersburg, FL and 3 sisters, Cherry (NY), Sisina (Italy) & Nadia (Italy). Her final resting place is w/her husband, Tony, in Arlington Cemetery's Columbarium.
Vittoria will be missed horribly, but her memories will be forever cherished treasures. Ti voglio bene Mamma e Babbo!
