Funeral services for Bobby Dale Channel, age 54, of Douglass will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Laird Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Randy Arnold officiating and burial to follow in Douglass Cemetery. Dale was born Feb. 4, 1959, in Nacogdoches, the son of A. L. Channel and Juanita Griffin Channel, and passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, in Nacogdoches. Dale attended Nacogdoches ISD schools and graduated in 1977, then firefighter school, when it was still held in Nacogdoches. He was a Baptist by faith, a member of and attended Douglass Baptist Church, a Mason with Milam Lodge #2 in Nacogdoches, a retired firefighter for the City of Nacogdoches, and was employed with the Texas Department of Transportation as assistant maintenance supervisor. He loved family time, hunting, fishing and working on tractors. In addition to his loving wife of 34 years, Debra Stotts Channel, of Douglass, Dale is survived by his son, Justin Channel, of Douglass; daughter, Hanna Channel, of Douglass; mother, Juanita Griffin Channel, of Douglass; brothers, Larry Channel and wife, Elizabeth, of Nacogdoches, and Gary Channel and wife, Wendi, of Douglass; sisters, Marie Tarver and husband, Charles, of Silsby, and Doris Lang and husband, Larry, of Nacogdoches; two grandchildren, Madalie and Hunter Channel of Douglass; other extended family and many good friends. Dale was preceded in death by his father, A. L. Channel. Pallbearers will be Mike Lee, Tim Martin, Randy Crawford, Brent Hughes, D.R. Luna and Michael Hensarling. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Nacogoches Fire Department. Visitation with Dale's family will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Laird Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
