A memorial service for Mrs. Margaret L. Boyd "Peggy" Heard, 79, of Nacogdoches, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at First Baptist Church with Bro. D.O. Foster officiating. Mrs. Heard was born on July 7, 1934, in Alexandria, Virginia, to the late Dr. Beverly M. Boyd and Sarah Kemper Boyd. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Peggy grew up in Alexandria and Richmond Virginia. She graduated high school from Uvalde High in Uvalde, Texas. She received her BS in education and graduated Cum Laude at The University of Texas at Austin. She was the co-owner and director of Lake Jackson Childcare Center for 23 years.Peggy was very active and enjoyed many activities through her life, such as water skiing, snow skiing, knitting, traveling, playing golf and family time. She was an excellent cook and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of The Red Hat Society and a Charter member of the Longhorn Foundation. She loved the Longhorns. Peggy had been an active member of Lake Jackson First Baptist Church and Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels and was also a member of First Baptist Church of Nacogdoches. She is survived by her loving husband, C. Jack Heard; one son, Richard A. Heard and wife, Leslie; daughter, Kathlyn L. Heard Daughrity and husband, Mark; two sisters-in-law, Betty Heard and Mary McCrummen and husband, Bob; granddaughters, Rikki Leigh Willoughby and husband, Jacob, Sarah Park and husband, Paul and Hailey Daughrity; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and good friends.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Sally Foster and husband, Al; sister, Jane Lengel and husband, Richard; brother, Bev. Boyd and grandson, Bailey Davis Heard.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Nacogdoches Treatment Center, 119 Hughes St, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961.The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Lexington Place Nursing Center and Rehab for their wonderful care from all the staff and doctors.Honorary pallbearers will be Kathy Strong, Carolyn Sivess,Carrie Ventura and Kathy Gaddie.
