LAKE CHARLES - Anthony "Tony" Pitre, Sr. died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the age of 67 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He leaves to mourn his wife of 43 years, Daisy Joubert Pitre, and four children—Anthony Pitre, Jr., Natalie Pitre Simien (Wayne), Antonio Kemper, and Cassandra Laster (Joseph); three sisters—Deborah Warren (Reginald); Yvette McIntosh (George); and Evelyn; two brothers—Chuck and Tommy Griffith; nine grandchildren, four aunts—Helen Giron, Jennie Pearl Edwards, Ina Cooper, Elga Washington, and a dear first cousin, Anawise Lewis. Anthony was lovingly reared by his Aunt Helen Giron and will be sadly missed by a host of in-laws, relatives, friends and business associates.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Griffith, Sr. and Rhody Pitre Ward; his brother, Cary Wright; three grandchildren—Brycen, Madyson, and Anthony Pitre, III; and his father-in-law, Aaron "Pop" Joubert, Sr.
Anthony was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer, a member of the U. S. Bowling Congress, and the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam War. He was a 30-year retiree of Conoco Oil Refinery. After retirement, he became an entrepreneur, owning Club 902.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013. A rosary will be recited at Combre Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. and the funeral mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
