OPELOUSAS - Funeral services for Doyle Ray Hill, age 83 will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Perry Hubbs will officiate the services and music will be provided by Randy Curtis and Karen Chambliss.
Doyle was a native of Queen City, TX and was a long time resident of Opelousas. He had moved to Sulpher, La recently to be close to his son and passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, January 27, 2014, at his residence.
Doyle worked for Texas Eastern Gas for 37 years as an operator, upon his retirement he spent time with family and friends and doing the work of the Lord. Doyle served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #19 and a former Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Opelousas. He used his gift of service to help family, friends, Church and the Community. Doyle will long be loved and remember by all who knew him.
Survivors include his son, James "Jim" Hill and wife Dawn of Sulphur; daughter, Jan Ruth Koenig and husband Byron of Richmond, KY; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Redmon Hill; parents, Charlie and Plennie Draper Hill; brother, Billy Hill; sister, Vaudin Christine Julian.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Funeral Home will reopen on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
