Judith Tabor Obituary
Judith Tabor

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Mary Judith Hargroder Spencer Tabor, 92, of Georgetown, Texas, went to join the Lord, Jesus Christ on August 20, 2013, following a brief illness.

Judy is survived by her two beloved daughters, Mary T. "Terri" Spencer of Alexandria, Virginia, and Judy Spencer Wallace of Austin, Texas; grandson Chad Lane Green and wife Robin Green, great-grandchildren Logan Lane Green and Lily Grace Green, all of Marion, Louisiana; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David S. Spencer, Jr., and second husband, Murphy Tabor; her parents, Joseph Clebert (J.C.) and Marie Therese Hargroder; three brothers, Percy, Herbert, and J. C. Hargroder, Jr.; and three sisters, Elther Launey, Mildred Elter, and Anna Bell Burleigh.

Judy, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Opelousas and was a long-time resident of Opelousas before moving to Texas in 1999. She was a "career woman" long before it was fashionable, having worked for the U.S. Navy during WWII and later for Greyhound Bus Lines and Abdalla's Furniture Store. She retired in 1982 from Dixie Glass Company after 20 years of loyal service. Judy was a 50+ year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 2483 and active at the local, district, and state level; and a member of the Opelousas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She enjoyed reading, playing cards, computer games, the occasional slot machine, and her family.

All who knew Judy will miss her warmth, openness, and delightful sense of humor. She was a friend to virtually everyone she met!

A Visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, Louisiana from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration Mass will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, with burial immediately following in Bellevue Memorial Park.

The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the VFW Auxiliary 2483 in Opelousas or to the .
