PLAISANCE - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Mark Baptist Church in Plaisance, LA for Mr. Leon Winbush Joseph, Sr., 79, who entered eternal rest, August 8, 2013 at his residence in Opelousas, LA.
Interment will be St. Mark Baptist Church Cemetery in Plaisance, LA. Pastor Jason Rubin, Sr. will be officiating.
Mr. Joseph's professional career commenced in the school year of 1960-1961 as librarian at Plaisance High School before becoming librarian at Northwest High School in Opelousas, LA. Mr. Joseph earned his B.S. Degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA and his M.Ed. from Prairie View University in Hemstead, TX. He furthered his education at Louisiana State University and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. His areas of concentration were Library and Information Skills Instruction, Vocational Agricultural, Supervision of Student Teaching, Safety Education, Principal, and Parish Supervisor.
Mr. Jospeh is survived by four sons Paul (Pam) Joseph of Plaisance, LA, Marcus Joseph of Atlanta, GA, Leon W. Joseph, Jr. of South Carolina, and Jarrell Jospeh of Opelousas, LA; one daughter Tara (Greg) Labrie of Denver, CO; three brothers Ezekiel Joseph, Elijah (Ruby) Joseph both of Opelousas, LA, and Lionel (Bernice) Joseph o Plaisance, LA; two sisters Melvia Daniels of Opelousas, LA and Annie Ruth(Craton) Young of Houston, TX, eleven grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
Mr. Joseph was preceded in death by one son Torre Hope Joseph, parents Paul Joseph and Orelia Joubert Joseph and two wives Juanita Guillory Joseph and Beverly Simien Joseph.
Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Mark Baptist Church in Plaisance, LA
