Lt. Col. Milton Alexander "Sandy" McLeod, USAF Retired

NEW ORLEANS - Sandy McLeod, Age 68, passed away on March 19, 2013, in New Orleans, LA. He was born in Church Point, LA, and grew up in Opelousas, LA. He

graduated from Opelousas High School and attended Louisiana Tech before graduating from LSU Baton Rouge. He was a big Tigers fan.

A pilot, Sandy flew C130s in the Air Force, served his country during the Vietnam War, and went on to be a Hurricane Hunter stationed at Keesler AFB as a member of the Flying Jennies, 815th Squadron. He also served in the Air Force Reserve and the Louisiana Air National Guard until 1993.

Sandy was a lover of architecture and design and had a second act in architectural product sales until his retirement in 2009.

He loved to travel, play golf, and visit with his many friends. Sandy will be most remembered for his sense of humor, Cajun jokes, style sense, and excellent fudge! He'll be sorely missed by family and friends alike.

Sandy was a member of the Round Table Club, the Mallory Society, and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Chaney McLeod; children, Shannon McLeod, Stuart McLeod, and Shaun Kiersten McCutchan; sisters, Marsha Beckstrom (Greg), Monette Dean (Donnie), Anne McLeod, and Beverly Johnson (Jeff); grandchildren, Shelby, Jordyn, Rowan, and Shawn; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas M. McLeod; mother,

Marvel Horecky McLeod; and brother, Thomas M. "Bucky" McLeod, Jr.

A service and celebration of Sandy's life will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013, at 2:00 PM at St. Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church in New Orleans. Visitation will begin at the church at 1:00 PM until service time. The family requests that donations be made in Sandy's memory to the American Parkinson Disease Association, www.apdaparkinson.org.
