Carroll, Carolyn Mrs. Carolyn Carroll, 82, was a loving mother and devoted Christian. A woman of all seasons, she was a homemaker, substitute teacher, published poet, speechwriter, and journalist. In 1988, she received an Honorable Mention and Golden Poet Award for her poem, "Be a Role Model." Born in Sylacauga, Ala., Mrs. Carroll lived many years in Corsicana and later in Duncanville. She died on Feb. 12 in Cedar Hill. Viewing will be 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday at Scott Funeral Home in Corsicana. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at First Independent Baptist Church, 703 G.W. Jackson Ave. in Corsicana, followed by burial at Woodland Cemetery. Mrs. Carroll's survivors include her son, Otto S. Carroll Jr.; two daughters, Shari L. Carroll and Laurie A. Carroll; one nephew, Obra J. Moore III; and a grandnephew and grandniece, Malcolm and Malika Moore.
