Stitt, David Hugh David Hugh Stitt was born on Oct. 8, 1923 and passed from this life on April 16, 2014. He was born in Hamlin Texas, to parents Homer & Maggie Stitt. He and was an only child. He served in the Navy from Nov. 21, 1942 until his honorable discharge as a Chief Engineer Second Class. He was a Veteran of World War II, the Asiatic/Pacific Campaign. After leaving the military he returned to his home in west Texas where he farmed until being offered a job with Stewart & Stevenson, Svcs., Inc. in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1955. He transferred to San Antonio, Dallas and later Houston where he served as General Service Manager until his retirement in 1992. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Helen Marie Burk Stitt, 3 sons & their wives, David (Deborah), Jimmy (Maribeth), Eddy (Brenda), 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 P.M. Friday, April 18, 2014 at Scott Funeral Home with Funeral Services beginning at 3:00 P.M. A private family burial will take place at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas at a later date.
