Cerny, Frank W. Was born Aug. 8, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois. During the depression, he volunteered and served a year with the Civilian Conservation Corps as a fire spotter. After this he went to work for the federal government in Washington, D.C. first with the Government Printing office and then with the Interstate Commerce Commission. He completed his education at George Washington University studying law. He passed the Bar and practiced law for a few years. Shortly after the start of World War II, he accepted a commission in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Atlantic, European Mediterrean and Asiatic Pacific Theaters during war. After the war he accepted a regular commission in the Navy which lead to service in the Korean War and different locations in the United States and Guan before he retired after 22 years. He went to work for the Texas Employment Commission assisting people with workers' compensation claims. The family settled in Richardson and after retiring he focused on his family and friends. He passed away on March 19, 2014. Frank met his beloved wife Sarah while working in Washington. They were married for 68 years before she passed away in 2006. They have two children; six grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints, 14740 Meandering Way, Richardson on March 22, 2014 at 11 AM. Internment will be at the National Cemetery.
