Mrs. Herbert Todd Rich Genevieve Rich passed away peacefully on February 9, 2012. She was born Genevieve Cronin Fawcett on January 28, 1914 in Platteville, Wisconsin. She attended high school in Lancaster, Wisconsin where her mother Emily Elizabeth Whitney taught English and Music and Genevieve participated in all the high school productions. After high school she attended Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, her mothers alma mater. She majored in music. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, a lifelong source of friendships and an affiliation she enjoyed for seventy five years. After college Genevieve moved to Chicago and worked as a receptionist and secretary at C.I.T. It was in Chicago that she met the handsome Herbert Todd Rich, Jr. on a blind date at a mutual friends' party in Lake forest. Their courtship included tea dances at the Edgewater Beach Hotel, dancing to Paul Whiteman and Benny Goodman. They married in 1937 at St. Paul by the Lake in Chicago and had loving marriage and partnership that lasted for fifty four years. In 1951 they moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they would live for over forty years. Here they raised their two daughters, Nancy and Emily. Genevieve was an active participant and sponsor of the girls activities as well as a devoted volunteer at the Nelson Atkins Gallery for forty years. She was also a member of PEO. She was a role model for her family, exhibiting exquisite taste and refinement balanced with a love of laughter. Genevieve moved to Dallas in 1992, after her husband died, to be with her two daughters and made great friends at her new home, the Crestpark Hotel. She enjoyed being a member of the Craig Class. For the last fifteen years Genevieve lived happily at Presbyterian Village North where she was loved by friends and staff. Genevieve was a great Lady, admired for her style, taste and beauty, but even more so for her incredible kindness to all she knew. She is survived by daughters Nancy Rich Jones (Mrs. Stephen Bond Jones), Emily Rich Summers and husband Steve Summers. Grandchildren; Anne and David Hines and great grand children William Parke, Benjamin Parke and David Parke Todd and Rebecca Porch and great grandchildren, Mollie Porch, Anderson Porch, Emma Jane Porch Caroline Summers Pass and Dax Pass and great grandchildren William Minnis, Genevieve Minnis and Isabel Pass Laura and Travis Briggs and great grandchildren, Lucas Briggs, Olivia Briggs and Helena Briggs Stephen Rich Summers and Elisa Summers and great grandchildren, Emily Summers, Camille Summers and Stephen Summers Stephen Bond Jones and Kerri Jones of Overland Park, Kansas and great grandchildren Campbell Jones and Sayers Jones. She is predeceased by her husband Herbert Todd Rich, died August 30, 1992 And Son in law, Stephen Bond Jones, died December 12, 2009.
