Harry Gene Byars, age 82, of Dallas, TX, passed away Nov. 18, 2012. He was born in Carrollton, MO on Oct 22, 1930, to the late Harry Cleo Byars and Virginia Williams. He grew up in Fort Worth and attended the University of Texas/Austin, graduating in 1953 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked for ARCO Oil and Gas for over 38 years, retiring in 1991 as a Senior Engineer and a Corrosion Control Consultant. He was a member of Highland Park UMC, the Two-by-Two Sunday School Class, and the Dallas White Rock Lions Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Frank Alan Byars. He was survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Beth Pierce; son, Harry Steven Byars and wife, Betty Jo; daughter-in-law, Judy Byars; two grandchildren, Lise Byars George and her husband, Michael, and JJ Carlstrom and her husband, Chris; four great-grandchildren, Soledad George, Bailee Carlstrom, Jesse Carlstrom, and Deshunn McKenzie; sister, Jerry Ann Bowman; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Monday, Nov. 26, at 2 pm in the Cox Chapel at the Highland Park UMC with Rev. Arville McLain officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Benevolence Fund of the Two-by-Two Sunday Class at Highland Park UMC.
