Mueller, Jack Wayne Former Mayor of Archer City, TX, Jack Mueller, age 88, passed away March 1, 2014 at his home in Archer City. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. March 5 2014, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olney, TX. Jack was born July 16, 1925 in Humboldt, KS to Henry Robert Mueller and Dora Amanda Youse Mueller. Jack was inducted into the Army on September 4, 1943 and proudly served his country in WWII, the European Theater of Operations and the Pacific Theater of Operations and was awarded the Purple Heart. He and Patty Joan Hoffmeir were married December 18, 1953 in Odessa, TX. Jack was employed by Homa Oil and Gas in 1964. In 1973, he started Mueller Oil Company in Archer County. In 1974, Jack met a young, rookie oilman from Dallas, Jim Graham, who was drilling his first well south of Archer City. Jack coached Jim for many years and was instrumental in the start of Jim's company, Palo Petroleum, Inc., in 1976. Jack went to work full time for Palo in 1990 as its Supervisor of Field Operations where he oversaw Palo's operations in central and west Texas and Colorado until his passing. He was a member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the Society of Petroleum Engineers of AIME. Survivors include his wife, Pat Mueller of Archer City; three sons, Mike Mueller of Archer City, Mark Mueller and wife, Mary of Archer City, and Jack Mueller and wife, Cathy of Lakeside City; one sister, Irma Parker of Sapulpa, OK and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310 or to Archer City Ambulance, P.O. Box 367, Archer City, Texas 76351.
