Stearman, Jane Claire 1930 - 2013 Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also and praises her. Jane Claire Stearman, Born June 8, 1930 in St. Louis, MO; devoted Catholic and loving matriarch; always opening her home graciously to her children, grandchildren, and many friends. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family in Farmers Branch, TX on July 22, 2013. She is preceded in death by husband Don W. Stearman (October 2011); parents Timothy and Grace Heraty; and brother-in-law Chuck Swenson. Jane is survived by brother Timothy Heraty and wife Sue, sisters Betty Swenson and Marilyn Newkirk and husband Henry; children Lynn Bass, and son-in-law Mark, Ronnie Stearman and wife Vicki, Susie Parker and husband Gary, Mike Stearman and wife Tessa, and Laurie Dempsay and husband Brian; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who lovingly refer to her as Memaw. Jane's family moved to Dallas, TX in 1933 where she met the love of her life, Don Stearman, during her high school years. She was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and attended the University of Texas at Austin. A part of the "Greatest Generation", she is considered one of the modern women of her time, enduring her husband's service in the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War and working after her children had grown. Upon Don's return from service, the young couple started a family and sacrificed to ensure their children received the best education they could afford through the parochial system. The Stearmans were the cornerstone of the family building a strong, tight knit family; hosting gatherings at their home known as the Big House for many holidays, birthday parties, weddings, Marine Corps events, bridge tournaments, and UT football games. Janie Claire was the ultimate wife, momma, sister, homemaker, second mother, and friend to all. Visitation and tribute will be held at North Dallas Funeral Home at 3 pm with Rosary following at 4:30 on July 28, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas. Mass will be held at Mary Immaculate Church, where she was a charter member, in Farmers Branch on July 29 at 10 am. Interment will be at 12:30 pm at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.
