Kaplan, Michael Charles Born in Cleveland, OH, 1941, died after a brief illness, June 24, 2014. Spent his early years in the French Quarter where father owned an antique business. Moved to Dallas 1949. Graduated Peacock Military Academy, San Antonio and the University of Texas, Austin. Served in the Navy on Special Teams as a Beachmaster. Completed 3 tours in Vietnam. He spent 25 years in the financial services business, Dallas. Active in Tannehill Masonic Lodge, 32 KCCH, 1967-present, where Masonic fellowship and service to community was his focus, along with numerous other area service organizations. The family wishes to thank the many friends who encouraged, loved and prayed for Mike during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital or Texas SPCA. Internment will be In Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Sharyn Bledsoe; Sons; Hillel Kaplan, of Denver; Philip Kaplan & wife Allison, grandsons, Tyler and Evan; Ronald Kaplan & wife Danielle, granddaughters, Rachel and Erin; all of San Diego. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 S. Greenville Avenue, Richardson, Texas. A reception for family and friends will be held afterward on the premises at Sparkman.
