Thompson, Pat H. Pat Hudgins Thompson was born on January 25th, 1925 in Itasca, Texas to Frank and Myrtle Thompson. He was the youngest of five children, including two brothers, Darrell and Bud, and two sisters, Thetis and Bobby Nell all deceased. He is survived by his wife of 69 and a half years, Patsy Ross; five children and their spouses, Bart and Gayle Thompson of Westlake Village, CA, Jere and Chris Thompson of Dallas, TX, Jack and Sue Thompson of Carrollton, TX, Jim and Zoe Ann Gettman of Dallas, TX, and Kay Leigh Harding of Grand Prairie, TX; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one cousin, Rita Mangipane of Corpus Christi, TX; five nieces; and two nephews. Pat was raised in Kilgore, Texas where he graduated from Kilgore High School. As an accomplished athlete, he was awarded all-state football honors and given a full football scholarship to Texas A&M University. He continued his passion for sports as a competitive boxer, winning the 1942 Golden Glove State Championship. He served three years in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas with a dual degree in English and Business. After a 37 year career with the Exxon Corporation, Pat retired in 1983 as an executive director of marketing and spent the latter part of his life enjoying his two favorite pastimes: golfing and bass fishing with the love of his life, Patsy. Pat and his family became members of Tyler Street United Methodist Church in 1958 where he was incredibly dedicated to The Anniversary Sunday School class. Pat and Patsy would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on July 12th of this year. Funeral Service Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 11:00 AM at Tyler Street UMC. Interment to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
