Burks, Robert Burks, Robert HillAge 90, of Dallas, TX passed away Monday May 5, 2014. Born October 1, 1923 in Dallas to Logan Burks and Pauline Hill Burks. Bob Burks attended Crozier Tech High School and obtained his bachelor's degree at the University of Texas in Austin. He enlisted in the in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served as Lt .J. G. aboard the U.S.S. Aegir in the Pacific. After the war he worked for his dad at E.L. Burks Variety store and later for the Dallas Office of Seidman & Seidman accounting firm, where he became "Partner-in-Charge". He enjoyed flying and taking RV trips. In his life he loved four dogs, Skipper, Lucky, Toby and Sadie. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Juanita Carrington Burks; daughter, Beverly Brophy and husband Mike; his son, Robert Carrington Burks, who predeceased him; 3 grandchildren, Michael Burks Brophy, Cristen Nathalie Brophy, and Robert Charles Brophy; 3 great grandchildren, Frank Miles Brophy, Benjamin Cowart Brophy, and Andrew Burks Brophy; 5 sisters, Barbara Cotton, Peggy Gunter, Phyllis Moore, Linda Wilson, and Judy Keene. Funeral service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, May 10, 2014, Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Visitation one hour prior to service. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
