Twiss, Robert Jewett July 7, 1922-August 14, 2013 Bob was born in San Benito Texas to E.J. and Neva Twiss. He graduated from Harlingen High School and spent one year on a football scholarship in Mississippi before enlisting in the Marines. Major Twiss was a pilot who was proud to fly the B25 and Corsair planes . He was stationed in the South Pacific during WWII and also served protecting our country in the Korean Conflict. He attended and graduated from UT Austin in 1950 on the GI bill. Stationed in Southern California he met his wife, Darlene and they moved many times as he pursued a successful 45 year career with IBM in sales. Retirement did not slow him down. His passions for flying, UT, the Marines and his church kept him young and active. He was a member of Friday Morning Veteran's Breakfast Group, The Happy Warriors, Marine Corp Aviation Association, Widowed Persons Support Group and Spring Valley United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for 43 years. In June 2013 he was privileged to travel with the "Honor Flight" to Washington DC. Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Darlene Baird Twiss. He is survived by his daughter Tracey Weaver, her partner Roger Newton, and her children Kristen and Kayla. Son, David Twiss and his wife Becky, their children Bryan, Ben and Martin. His sweetheart for the past 8 years, Cathy Taylor and her family. And his many friends he touched in life. The Memorial service is a celebration of Bob's life not a mourning of his death. Service is 10:00 am Tuesday August 20, 2013, at Spring Valley United Methodist Church, 7700 Spring Valley Road Dallas, TX 75254. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery lead by North Texas Patriot Guard Riders. Semper Fi Bob.
