Brown, William (Bill) Lee William (Bill) Lee Brown's number was retired on November 16, 2013 when he was called to join the Lord's heavenly team. Teacher, coach, sports nut, and long-time suffering "Cubs fan," Bill was a devoted family man who's magnetic personality drew others to his team (family). Born in Bloomington, Illinois on October 23, 1941 to Dorothy and Harry Brown, he married his teammate of 52 years, Jean Naas on May 27, 1960. Following his passion for baseball, Bill played for the Illinois State Teacher's College Redbirds earning a bachelor's degree in education, and eventually earning a Master's degree from the University of Illinois. His major league 40 year career in education, began in Downs Illinois at Tri Valley School District, and progressed to Woodstock School District for 29 years, ending his career with extra innings in Allen Independent School District. Surviving teammates include: brother, Larry Brown; daughter, Stacy Brown; son, Jeffrey Brown; daughter, Michele Franke (Jon); grandchildren: Elizabeth Molidor (Will), Savanah Seipert (Greg), Mesa Brown, Will Franke, and Morgan Franke. Coach "PaPa's" game-winning commentary will be missed on the sidelines of the grandchildren's sporting and life-events. An elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Allen, he loved singing in the choir and being a part of the church family. Bill's optimistic nature and, "It's not over till it's over " attitude was his life-long game plan. Stepping up to the plate for the last time, he hit a grand-slam by donating his organs to UT Southwestern/St.Paul. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Send Hope, 720 East Main Street, Suite B, Allen, Texas 75002. A celebration of his life was held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Allen, Texas.
